What Kratom Is And Is Not Full Disclosure

Latin Name “Mitragyna Speciosa” Kratom is a tropical evergreen tree in the same family as coffee. This tree grow’s to an average height of 50ft, with a diameter of about 3ft. Traditionally the leaves are harvested and consumed either in it’s raw form or more commonly it’s dried and powdered form.

Kratom is native to southeast Asia. It’s indigenous to Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia And Papau New Guinea where it has been used in traditional medicines for over 300 years. It can be found throughout the large spans of the rain forests in these countries.

Many people from all different backgrounds take kratom for a host of different reasons. Athlete’s take it for it’s energy promotion and pain relieving qualities, while sufferer’s of PTSD take it for its anti anxiety and mood lifting effects. Kratom is also known for its effect to lessen the symptom’s of opiate withdrawal and is thought to be a safer alternative to prescription based pain killers.

There over 25 active alkaloids found in kratom. They work with one another to achieve the many effects taht users claim to experience. The two most important of these alkaloids are Mitragynine and 7-Hydroxymitraganine. These two alkaloids are primarily responsible for the pain relieving, stimulating, and sedative effects of kratom.

The effects kratom has on the user will vary depending on the size of the dose that is taken. Lower to moderate doeses will be much more stimulating than a higher dose, which tends to be more sedative. Another thing we must also take into consideration is the color of the vein on the leaf itself. White veined leaves are thought to be more stimulating than green or red veined leaves. While green seems to be a better Anxiolytic and mood elevator. Red vein leaf is considered to be the most effective for relieving pain.

As with any other substance you decide to put into your body, there are several side effeects you may experience while taking kratom. In smaller doses, the side effects of kratom use may include insomnia, increased sexual desire, weight loss, loss of appetite and increased energy. In larger doses, side effecs may include dry mouth, itchiness, excessive thirst, reduced sensitivity to pain and seating.

The DEA has labeled kratom as an “imminent hazard to public safety”. The DEA has also claimed that kratom has no known medicinal qualities. However, patients on alkaloids found in kratom have proven that the government is lying to us. Smith Kline & French Labs is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world and currently holds a patent showing an alkaloid in kratom called “Speciofoline” “has useful pharmacodynamic activity, particularly analgesic and antitussive activity.” There is also an application for patent submitted by the “University of Mass. Medical School” that recognizes kratom as a treatment for opioid withdrawal. It also goes on to claim kratom could be used to help withdrawals from other drugs as well.

On behalf of the growing numbers of kratom users; including doctors, lawyers, teachers and law enforcement officers, the American Kratom Association works to help protect the ability to use kartom for the purpose of improved health and well being. They are the front line in the fight to keep kratom available for millions of Americans who use it for health and wellness. Manufacturers, wholesaler’s and retailers whose livelihood’s depend on a safe and robust market; and for scientific and research community’s that are actively exploring its potential.

Kratom is not a drug. Kratom is not an opiate. Kratom is not a synthetic substance. Naturally occurring kratom is a safe herbal supplement that behaves as a partial mu-opioid receptor agonist and is used for pain management, energy, even depression and anxiety that are common among Americans. Kratom contains no opiates, but it does bind to the same receptor sites in the brain. Chocolate, Coffee, Exercisse and even human breast milk hit these receptor sites in a similar fashion.    “American Kratom Association”
